We met Andrea and Ryan in Yosemite Valley on a Monday evening for their trash the dress session at the beginning of August. Monique spent her childhood annual family vacations in Yosemite, so we went to a few of her “off the beaten path” locations for this session. It was amazing that, for a summer evening in one of the most visited national parks, we felt like we were the only people there! Our locations were a meadow with a view of Half Dome, an area of really cool cave style granite boulders along the steep granite walls of the valley, the Merced River, and the famous Inspiration Point/ Tunnel View overlooking the valley. We had been planning this session for months with this couple, and then the El Portal wild fire broke out a week before the scheduled session! Our reservations at the Crane Flat campground were actually cancelled by the system, so we had to scramble at the last minute to find a private campground outside the park for a few days. We had a backup plan for a Lake Tahoe session after Andrea and Ryan did the John Muir trail for their honeymoon. But we are so happy that they decided to just go for it in Yosemite, since the smoke from the fire finally cleared up the day before their hike. We photographed their wedding in the Santa Cruz Mountain a few days before, check out the complete blog post at the Stones & Flowers Retreat Center in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
