Sugar Bowl Wedding for Beth and Tom

Beth and Tom are a local Reno couple who chose me to photograph their wedding at Sugar Bowl Resort near Donner Summit. We planned to do minimal getting ready, then a quick first look out in front of the Sugar Bowl Lodge before heading to the nearby Donner Lake overlook for a few photos with their wedding party and cute dog. It was late August but there were still a few wildflowers in bloom on one of the nearby bike paths, so we set up the first look there and had a great time. These guys were so obviously in love that they really required very little direction because every time they looked at each other the natural smiles that broke out on their faces made the picture every time. After a short ceremony on the lawn in front of the Sugar Bowl Lodge, we headed up the chairlift for an hour of drinks and music on top of the Disney Chairlift. After that it was back down for dinner and dancing. We typically have hot, clear days in August and this was no exception, so with no clouds on the horizon we went back out on the bike path during the golden hour for a couple of really nice portraits in the soft evening light. These guys were super troopers because as soon as we got out into the middle of the path, the mosquitoes decided we were the best things to come along in ages and decided to snack on us pretty ferociously. Fortunately between the great light and a patch of sweat peas growing along the trail, we made some nice pictures real quick and got back for a night of dancing.

Beth and Tom were game to head out into the wildflowers for a few portaits with the golden light. They made for great pictures, but we all wished we had put on bug spray first.
