Edgewood Lake Tahoe winter wedding for Marina and Nate

by Scott

Marina and Nate got married at the end of December at Edgewood Lake Tahoe. Since it was a small wedding in the middle of the week, they hired me for our smallest package – 4 hours of coverage. Mostly that is enough time to cover the ceremony, some portraits and some of the reception, which was all this mellow couple really wanted. It was a nice day, but cold and we held the ceremony indoors, but they were troopers when the clouds started lighting up and put up with the chill air like champs for some amazing sunset photos.

Maternity photography, newborn and family photos for Malaina and Ian

By Monique

Malaina is one of my dearest friends, and I have known her since kindergarten. We grew up a few miles apart up in the Santa Cruz Mountains. I photographed her son’s home birth 7 years ago, the first of 4 births I have had the honor to document over the years. She just had her second child, Emma, named after Malaina’s maternal grandmother who she was very close to. I wanted to share a few images from an impromptu maternity session I did with her in her garden when she was eight and a half months pregnant. And I also wanted to include a few images from when Emma was about 3 weeks old.

Tahoe wedding photography for Bill and Kristin at the Chateau

By Monique

Scott and I did this wedding together in October at The Chateau in Incline Village. Bill and Kristin were a great couple to work with, very easy going and the day went by like a breeze. They hired us for our all inclusive collection, which included a studio photo booth set up during the reception and a trash the dress session too. You can see some fun images from their photo booth photography here.

Plumpjack wedding at Squaw Valley for Nicole and Nate

by Scott

Nicole and Nate got married at Plumpjack in Squaw Valley. Plumpjack has redone their wedding venue this year, creating a dedicated patio with mountain background out behind the pool which seems to be working well for them, you can judge for yourself in these photos. For the couple wanting some different types of pictures, the Village at Squaw Valley is a great resource, especially the funky colors and rustic interior of the Auld Dubliner.  For those looking for a more outdoorsy setting, there is a great old wood fence and field with mountain views just a few short minutes away. That is where Nate and Nicole and family decided to go after the ceremony for some fun pictures before the reception. The room Nicole got ready in just happened to have a cool old piano, which I made use of for a couple of the first pictures in this series. The groomsmen’s shots are out by the pool and the reception is on site.

Valhalla Grand Hall wedding at Lake Tahoe for Amy and Ben

by Scott Sady

Amy and Ben got married in August at the Valhalla Grand Hall in South Lake Tahoe.  Valhalla is a great historical building at the Tallac Historical Site on US forest service land on the southern shores of Lake Tahoe. The venue offers some cool rustic simplicity with a great historical wood hall with a floor to ceiling stone fireplace, and a lot of tall trees and other old buildings on the grounds. As a historical site on forest service land, Valhalla itself can be reserved, but the site as a whole, including the beach and pier, remain open to the public, and the ceremony must be held indoors. Most of the public is gone by the time the sun sets and then you can get some nice photographs out by the water. Amy and Ben rented out rooms at the nearby Lakeland Village to get ready and then had a short drive to Valhalla afterwards. For couples that want to spend more time taking pictures prior to the ceremony, there are several nice local beaches within a mile or two of the Valhalla property.
