I met Nate and Michelle in the middle of February at Sand Harbor for their engagement photography session. It was the one clear day of the week, and even though the wind was strong enough to whip up some pretty decent waves, it was our best bet for sunny skies and that beautiful blue of the lake to be seen. On another note, Scott and I recently got back from our annual trip down to Vegas for the WPPI convention. We saw some inspiring speakers and picked up some new gear. Scott is super excited about some lighting equipment he got, and I am excited about our new 85 1.4 lens. One common theme among many of the speakers this year was showcasing the images they are getting from what many of them call “experiential style” or  their “organic” style. I had to chuckle just a little bit because this candid style of photography that people are embracing these days is what Scott and I have been doing all along. Because we have backgrounds as photojournalists, it is second nature to us to work this way, documenting the interaction between people, instead of making everyone stand there in a stiff pose looking at the camera all the time.
