Winter wedding photography at the Ridge Tahoe

by Monique

Vanessa and Chris were married on February 21 at the Ridge Tahoe in South Lake Tahoe. Vanessa said she chose me because of my unobtrusive, documentary style of wedding photography. It was great to work with them and their families, doing what I do best, letting the story of the day unfold, capturing it for them and their beautiful new 2 month old baby Olive. I think my favorite image posted here is the generations of women, Vanessa with her grandmother, her mother, her sister and baby Olive. This will become a cherished family heirloom for them, as part of their history.

bridal portrait

I did this bridal portrait in the waiting room before the ceremony. There were a lot of people in the room, which was a bit cluttered, so I did some tight shots near the window. I added a warming filter with a slight glow.

Vanessa's shoes and her daughter Olive's shoes. I usually do a photo of the bride's shoes, so this time I decided to add her 2 month old daughter's patent leather shoes to a few of the shots.

After doing all of the family combos inside, I asked Vanessa and Chris if they were up for going outside in the snow for some more candid shots. The sky was gray, so I played with a few of my filters to add some different effects. The first photo is pretty much straight from the camera, with a little bit of a vignette. I added a filter to the second photo to give it the effect that it was taken with a Holga camera, notice the slightly blurred edges.
